India's semiconductor leap forward: the first silicon carbide wafer factory leads four major project
On August 12, 2025, the Indian government launched another major attack under its "India Semiconductor Mission" (ISM) framework, approving four new semiconductor manufacturing projects with a total investment of 46 billion rupees (approximately 3.777 billion yuan), covering key links such as silicon carbide wafers, glass based packaging, and traditional chip manufacturing. Among them, the silicon carbide wafer fab jointly built by SiCSem and Clas SiC in the UK is particularly noteworthy, marking India's official entry into the industrialization of third-generation semiconductor materials.
