It is reported that on May 28th, the 200000 kW/1 million kWh all vanadium liquid flow new energy storage project of Three Gorges Energy in Jimsar, Xinjiang was connected to the grid for power generation. The project is located about 11km northwest of Jimsar County in Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang, and about 6km northwest of Beiting Town. The project was won by a consortium of Shanghai Survey and Design Institute Co., Ltd., China Construction Third Engineering Group Co., Ltd., and Dalian Rongke Energy Storage Technology Development Co., Ltd.
The integrated project of 1 million kW photovoltaic+20 million kW/1 million kWh vanadium flow energy storage in Jimsar North Court (referred to as the vanadium flow energy storage project) has a total investment of 3.8 billion yuan. After the project is put into operation, the annual average power generation is about 1.72 billion kilowatt hours. Compared with traditional thermal power plants, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 1.6 million tons per year. According to the 25 year operating cycle of a photovoltaic system, its emission reduction is equivalent to the annual emissions of a medium-sized country. While creating economic benefits, it has extraordinary significance for protecting the ecological environment.
Chen Chao, the shift leader of Three Gorges New Energy Jimsar Power Generation Co., Ltd., said, "Against the backdrop of energy structure transformation, large-scale renewable energy grid connection faces stability and consumption issues. The completion of the all vanadium liquid flow energy storage project can effectively stabilize the volatility of new energy generation, enhance the grid's ability to accept renewable energy, reduce wind and solar power curtailment, and promote the efficient utilization of clean energy. At the same time, it also provides a model and experience for other regions to carry out similar projects, which will help accelerate the development of the national energy storage industry
The integrated vanadium flow energy storage project, as the largest vanadium flow energy storage project in China, mainly consists of electrolyte, fuel cell stack, thermal management system, etc., covering facilities such as self use power system, inverter, supporting auxiliary facilities and equipment, and construction engineering. Its "national best" is reflected in two key indicators: installed capacity of 1000 megawatts, strong energy conversion and supply capacity; The energy storage capacity is 1 million kilowatt hours, with a storage duration of 5 hours, and the maximum energy storage capacity per operation is 1 million kilowatt hours. Compared with many similar projects with a scale of tens of megawatts in China, it leads in installed capacity, energy storage scale, and duration.
Chen Chao, the shift leader of Three Gorges New Energy Jimsar Power Generation Co., Ltd., said, "The all vanadium liquid flow energy storage technology has unique advantages, strong stability, and long service life. The successful construction of the project not only verifies the feasibility of the technology, but also provides reliable support for the development of clean energy. Xinjiang, a region rich in new energy resources, can better utilize solar and wind energy and help achieve the national 'dual carbon' goal
During the 14th and 15th Five Year Plans, Jimsar County has planned a new energy scale of 10 million kilowatts, with 30 new energy construction land plots covering a total area of approximately 560000 acres. Currently, 10 photovoltaic projects have been completed and put into operation, with an installed capacity of 2.01 million kilowatts. The completion of the largest all vanadium liquid flow energy storage project in the country has added brightness to the development of new energy in Jimsar County.
Li Dading, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Development and Reform Commission of Jimsar County, said, "It greatly enhances the regional new energy consumption capacity. Xinjiang has abundant sunshine resources and rapid development of new energy such as photovoltaics, but the power generation is unstable. Energy storage projects are like 'power reservoirs', which can store excess electricity and release it during peak electricity consumption, making new energy generation more stable, improving utilization, reducing the rate of abandoned light, and ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid. In the future, with the demonstration effect of this project, more green projects will definitely gather here to help us build a modern industrial system of green and low-carbon
